The CyberKnife Coalition (CKC) is pleased to announce that another private payer has expanded its SRS/SBRT coverage policy to include prostate cancer.
Florida Blue, the Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliate in the state of Florida, has just changed its policy and now reimburses prostate cancer SBRT treatments performed with the CyberKnifeSystem.
Florida Blue is the largest commercial payer in the state of Florida and currently provides health insurance coverage for 4.3 million lives.
Florida Blue’s updated SRS/SBRT coverage policy can be found on its website at this link.

To be eligible for SBRT for the treatment of prostate cancer, the patient must meet all of the following criteria:
Stage less than T3a
Gleason score less than 8
PSA less than 20
Negative bone scan.
We are excited about this policy change and what it means for prostate cancer patients in the state of Florida.
We would like to extend a special thanks to two leaders in the CyberKnife community and board members of the CyberKnife Coalition, Drs. Mark Perman and Debra Freeman, who met with the medical director and staff to educate them on the clinical and economic benefits of CyberKnife treatment.
These physicians kept in regular communication with the decision makers at Florida Blue when relevant additional clinical and other data were published, including updates to model policies and treatment guidelines, as well as other large national payer and Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliate policy changes.
We hope you will join us in celebrating this important policy change!
Now prostate cancer patients in Florida can join the majority of men in the U.S. who have access to this important treatment option.
